This sometimes includes determining which existing plants are best suited for accommodating new capacity. We also utilize models to conduct freight cost comparison and minimization for manufacturing site selection.
In the distribution arena, WDGC supports its clients in a number of ways. Frequently our clients’ logistics unit will define a geographic search region for a new warehouse. WDGC will then be tasked with finding the optimal location within the search region. Decision factors include labor market, unionization, sites/buildings, electric power, taxes, and incentives. Scorecards are utilized to rank areas and tender recommendations.
There are times when a client will request a distribution center network optimization analysis. WDGC teams with a strategic alliance partner to perform such studies. The network analysis examines the existing distribution center configuration. We then engage in scenario analysis by adding one or more distribution centers to the network.
